What does Easter or Resurrection Sunday mean to you?

Postd By Lena - March 26, 2010

Whether it is called Easter or Resurrection Sunday, its meaning reflects more than bunnies, baskets, candy and colorful eggs.

Jesus shed his blood on the cross for our sins, and Easter Sunday is a holiday which honors his resurrection from the dead for Christian believers.

Many of us will dance on Easter Sunday to commemorate the great sacrifice Christ gave in love for us.

Easter Sunday is the day Jesus rose from the grave.

Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus Christ's triumphant arrival in Jerusalem. For Christians, Palm Sunday is celebrated the Sunday before Easter.

Holy Week is the week leading up to Easter, and this is the week Christians particularly remember the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday.

Maundy Thursday is the Thursday before Easter. Christians remember it as the day of the Last Supper and the night on which Jesus was betrayed.

Good Friday is the Friday before Easter. It commemorates the arrest, trial, crucifixion, death and burial of Jesus.
