Although many of us are guilty of slouching, maintaining a good posture is mandatory for dancers. I can remember taking my first ballet classes. My dance instructor would constantly correct our posture while we learned the basic ballet positions. As young children we stood tall, waiting eagerly to learn the skills of posture perfection in dance. "Stand up Straight, stomachs in, chins up…These are only a few of the crucial ballet words spoken from my dance instructor, which influenced my entire dance career.
Maintaining a good posture is beneficial, not only to dancers, but for anyone who is interested in practicing good health and physical fitness. If you are not a dancer, and you don't have good posture, it is not too late to improve or correct. The good news is that posture can easily be polished through exercise. For worship dancers, a good posture adds an unlimited amount of flexibility and graceful poise to express our love for God in the dance.
